CompositesWorld's 2011 Carbon Fiber conference agenda has been updated to include two new presentations. The 2011 Carbon Fiber conference is Dec. 5-7 at the Washington Marriott in
At noon on Dec. 6, Tom Brand, former CEO of composite material supplier Fiberite, will present, “How a Powerhouse Composite Materials Supplier Was Built and What the Past Can Teach Us About the Future of the Composites Business.” Brand will look back on the history of composites material development at Fiberite, starting in the 1960s with the birth of aerospace composites. He'll review engineering and development glass and Kevlar structures and carbon fiber primary structures. He'll discuss the evolution of the product life cycle, product qualification, process qualification, sales functions and management styles.
At 11:30 am on Dec. 7 will be a panel and group discussion titled, "It’s complicated! Does the complexity inherent in CF composites hurt or help market acceptance and growth?" Moderated by Jeff Sloan, editor-in-chief of High-Performance Composites and Composites Technology magazines, the panel will assess and discuss the competitive advantage offered by the complex mix of fiber, resin, tooling and processing types inherent in composites manufacturing.
The revised agenda, registration, hotel and other 2011 Carbon Fiber conference information is available at the CompositesWorld website at www.compositesworld.com/cf, or at 1 207-221-6603.
