A new automotive center focusing on reducing weight in the automotive industry has opened in Germany.
The Automotive Center Südwestfalen (ACS) was set up as a JV between the region's universities and municipalities and is equipped with an injection molding compounder from KraussMaffei.
The machine has an extruder and injection molding capabilities, which KraussMaffei says provide advantages that are particularly crucial for development projects.
"The injection molding compounder enables a reduction in material costs and provides increased flexibility due to the fact compounds can be manufactured on a case-by-case basis: An important aspect for development projects," says the company.
It also delivers good melt homogeneity and mixing efficiency, high injection volume and optimal part quality, says the firm.
