For instance, the Ems-Grivory division further offers Grilon TSG-30/4 V0 as an easy-flowing grade for thin-walled or complex molded parts. This grade is characterized by outstanding electrical properties (e.g. CTI: 600 V) and high flame retardance (flammability class UL 94 V-0 at 0.35 mm, for all colors) as well as a glowing wire value (GWIT) of 775°C. This satisfies the household appliance standard (IEC 60335) for unattended applications in the electronics industry. Reinforcement with 30 % glass fibers guarantees high stiffness and strength, and this at and elongation at break of 4.5 % in humid conditions. The UL card is completed by high RTI (relative temperature index) values.
Thanks to the halogen- and red phosphorus-free flame retardance package, Grilon TS has no restrictions regarding colorability, which is typically the case with red phosphorus, for instance, and is even available in light colors. This means no problems when it comes to laser marking, which is becoming increasingly important in the electronics industry. Good contrast can already be achieved with the standard black formulation.
Furthermore, the material has the UL f1 listing (for use in outdoor applications with simultaneous exposure to the effects of UV radiation and water) and is also rated as UL 94 5VA from 0.8 mm. The material is thus especially well-suited for photovoltaic applications, e.g. solar module connection boxes. With the unreinforced halogen-free grades Grilon TS V0 (to receive the UL f1 listing shortly) and the new Grilon TS V0 X (GWIT > 775°C), which is also ideally suited for PV connectors and cap nuts, Ems-Grivory has innovative solutions for the solar technology industry.
