Dow Chemical has restarted its St Charles cracker in Louisiana after a nearly two month turnaround, the company said on Tuesday.
The 610,000 tonne/year unit was restarted on 17 March, a spokesperson said.
Dow had taken the cracker down for planned maintenance on 19 January.
The shutdown was part of a busy US cracker turnaround season this year.
Two other US crackers remained off line this week for planned maintenance, including ExxonMobil's Baytown 1 cracker in Texas. The 1m tonne/year unit was shut down on 1 February for a two-month turnaround.
Also undergoing maintenance is LyondellBasell's OP-1 Channelview cracker in Texas. The 873,000 tonne/year unit was taken off line on 29 February for a seven-week turnaround.
At least another four US crackers are expected to go down for planned maintenance in April-May.
The shutdowns will take around 10% of US ethylene capacity off line in the second quarter, an analyst predicted.
BASF, INEOS, DuPont and Chevron Phillips Chemical are among the US producers with turnarounds scheduled in the next two months, according to information in the market.
