Materials firm Polymera Inc. has launched production of 60 million pounds of capacity for wood-plastic composite compounds at its plant in Hebron.

Hebron-based Polymera now has a fully automated manufacturing system in place at its 160,000 square-foot plant for wood/natural fiber composite compounds, officials said in a Jan. 12 news release.

“Polymera is addressing a need for WPC compound that simply has not been available in the industry until now,” Vice President Herb Hutchison said in the release.

Polymera’s products include Merablend, a wood/natural fiber polymer composite material for injection molding, extrusion and compression molding applications. The firm can supply composites in compounds or in extruded profiles sold under the Merawood brand name.

Polymera was founded in 2010 by plastics industry veterans Hutchison, Maan Said and Matt Kollar.
