A truck-full of Neopor rigid foam insulation made of graphite-enhanced expandable polystyrene (EPS) has been donated by BASF to the Hope Hospitality & Warming Center, a non-profit organization located in Pontiac, Michigan. The foam insulation was produced from the raw material by Perma R, a customer of BASF.

BASF has gifted the foam insulation to meet the insulation needs of the non-profit organization’s building. Unlike conventional EPS, Neopor insulation can efficiently absorb and reflect thermal radiation, as it features graphite particles, which enhance insulation capacity by reducing heat loss.

Neopor-based foam insulation products consume fewer amounts of raw materials when compared to products made of conventional white EPS, however, they still deliver comparable or superior insulation performance, while saving resources and costs and reducing environmental footprint.

Elizabeth Kelly, who serves as the Hope Hospitality & Warming Center’s Executive Director, stated that this donation of Neopor rigid foam insulation has made the center more energy efficient and comfortable.

BASF’s Business Development Manager for Construction, Paul Fox stated that he is excited to provide his experience and knowledge along with BASF management and the company’s customer, Perma R to gift the Neopor rigid foam insulation to the center.

Fox further said that builders and architects are showing interest to use Neopor and the company’s product branded NeoPRO TK sheathing, as these products use lesser amount of insulation material to obtain equivalent thermal insulation capacity when compared to other products.
