Car parts moulder Nifco Korea is completing its new plastic components plant in Zory, Poland. The company has invested at least 72m zloty (€16.55m) in the construction of the new factory, which will make a range of plastic interior parts for the automotive industry.
Under the plan, the Zory-based plant will be completed by the end of this year, and production is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2012, according to various reports in the local media. The new unit, located in the Katowicka Special Economic Zone (KSSE), will have a surface of about 18,000m².
The Polish factory’s plastic components output will most likely be supplied to automotive plants in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. These are to include Hyundai’s Czech unit in Nosovice and the Kia Motors Slovakia plant in Zilina.
Developed in partnership with the government-run Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ), the production facility in Zory will create a total of 260 new jobs.
Nifco Korea is a subsidiary of Japan’s Nifco Corp., which operates two production facilities in Swidnica, Poland. Both plants supply automotive plastic parts to Toyota’s ofshoots in the UK, France, Poland and the Czech Republic, as well as to Suzuki’s car factory in Esztergom, Hungary. Nifco’s first Polish plant started operations in mid-2007, and the second one was launched a year later. The Japanese company employs about 115 workers at its two factories in Swidnica.
