Flexible foamer, the FoamLine Group is predicting a growth rate of up to 4% for the polyurethanes industry in the country for next year.
The company’s head of marketing Alexander Agafonov said a growth rate of about 3% or 4% would translate to around 110 kT/year consumption.
He also said an issue affecting the Russian market in furniture and mattress foam was that it traditionally had a reputation for poor quality which put end users off the material.
Meanwhile, over in the Ukraine, OSV Technology’s MD Alexey Kuznetsov told UTI magazine that the company’s client bases in Western Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia were “growing steadily.”
He added: “In the next two or three years we expect Russian-speaking countries’ markets to grow in the sphere of equipment for engineering and technical purposes as well equipment for special applications but interest in equipment for architectural and furniture applications will probably decline.”
The country is set to host its sixth annual Polyurethanex conference in February next year.
