BASF invests in polyurethane additives in Russia

BASF Corp. recently opened a new line for production to make polyurethane additives for the construction industry in Kazan. The plant, built in about a year, will make 20 types of industrial additives for concrete.
 
The cost of the project is between $13.6 million and $34 million. It will pay for itself with in five years, according to Sergei Vetlov, BASF regional manager. BASF says that localizing production will enable BASF to increase sales and profitability in Russia.
 
Product is scheduled to start shipping in November and will be aimed at Tartarstan and other regions of the Russian Federation, BASF said.
 
This is BASF's fifth production enterprise in the Republic of Tatarstan. The company is actively developing its activity in this part of the country.
