Gaco Western, a leader in innovative spray foam insulation, recently announced that a new evaluation report on GacoFireStop has been released. According to the report, Gaco Western's GacoFireStop 5500 has passed the industry Appendix X flammability test for the second time last month. TheIAPMO Evaluation Service has issued IAPMO ES Evaluation Report Number 0233 certifying that GacoFireStop meets and exceeds the building code prescriptive and performance requirements based on third party laboratory testing. Building code officials and contractors can have confidence in the Evaluation Report (ESR) released today and available on the Gaco Western website. The report confirms that GacoFireStop can be installed in attics and crawl spaces without the use of an additional ignition barrier.
"We have repeatedly demonstrated the ability of GacoFireStop to pass the AC377 Appendix X , ensuring performance with any degree of foam trimming," said Peter Davis, President and CEO of Gaco Western. "We now have the report in hand to help code officials understand and approve this innovative product. Our customers can have the confidence that GacoFireStop has met the performance requirements of the ICC family of building codes."
IAPMO ES is built upon an 83-year-old foundation of experience, expertise and quality. The orginazation is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) per the ISO/IEC Guide 65, General Requirements for Bodies Operating Product Certification Systems. This means that building products, materials and designs bearing the IAPMO ES mark of conformity are trusted for their conformity and workmanship by contractors, inspectors, architects, engineers, officials and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
Evaluation Reports generated by IAPMO ES represent the highest degree of integrity in showing compliance with the International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC). IAPMO evaluations are particularly useful to code officials by compiling testing information into a usable format and interpreting that information as it pertains to specific code requirements. IAPMO investigates performance requirements, aligning the product with the ICC 2006 or ICC 2009 building codes.
