Honeywell International, one of leading US corporations, is planning to open a scientific-research centre for the development of innovations in the processing industries in the Skolkovo innovation centre in the Moscow Region. The agreement was signed between the Skolkovo Fund and Honeywell International in the Russian capital on Wednesday.

The commissioning of a Honeywell scientific-research centre in Skolkovo will give an opportunity to use the leading world experience to develop the control systems over technological processes and modern computer modelling systems, Honeywell Process Solutions Norman Gilsdorf said. This centre will have a major influence on petrochemical plants and many other industrial complexes in Russia, Gilsdorf said.

The Honeywell Corporation intends to make considerable investments in this centre, the creation of new jobs for the research, technical and laboratory personnel of the centre, he said. The company is also planning to attract students and scientists from the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technologies for research at the new centre, Gilsdorf pointed out.

Gilsdorf believes that Russian processing industry needs a constantly higher efficiency that is caused by a tense competition on the world market. Local intellectual resources and the Honeywell experience will make it possible to develop high technologies, which will become a substantial competitive advantage of Russian enterprises, Gilsdorf said.

Honeywell is a multi-industrial production and technological corporation, which is on the list of 100 leading world companies. The corporation provides worldwide services in such spheres as aerospace spacecraft, the technologies to manage administrative, industrial and residential buildings, vehicles, turbine compressors and special materials.

Some 16 agreements were already signed with leading world companies,” a press officer of the Skolkovo Fund said. “These centres, including the Honeywell centre, are planned to commission in Skolkovo in 2013-2014 after the construction of office buildings is complete,” he told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
