Cherat, BSW introduce PP sacks for cement
Cherat Packaging Pakistan and BSW Machinery, the Vienna-based subsidiary of Windm?ller & H?lscher KG, have a close working relationship that began in 2010 when Cherat added polypropylene cement sacks to its portfolio.
This year, the joint development has led to the introduction of PP sacks for molding 50 kilograms of cement with a sack weighing just 65 grams.
In the cement industry, woven PP sacks are the main alternative to paper sacks. Cherat makes cement sacks out of both materials.
According to BSW, the global standard sack weight for the common 50-kg cement package. So the new sack technology offers a potential reduction of more than 15 grams, or 20 percent.
In Pakistan, more than half of the cement factories have tested and approved the PP sack, and are now commercially using these bags, BSW said.
BSW CEO Walter H?der said Cherat expanded into PP sacks with a strong team. “We want to highlight that Cherat is up there amongst the firms which run at the highest overall efficiency and lowest waste rates,” he said.
